This is what I came across by accident in San Francisco on Friday morning.
I took a different route to work because MUNI service on the 33 line has virtually ceased to exist as early as I need it on week days.
Taking the 22 instead of the 33 meant transferring to the 5 instead of riding the whole way to work on one bus.
It was at that transfer point that this scene offered itself, with dawn attempting to penetrate the fog.
Below, the south-facing view up Steiner leads to a glimpse of Alamo Square Park.
For a Friday morning it was not a bad trade, I concluded. Whatever I lost in convenience I more than gained back in the form of this modest and brief yet unexpectedly satisfying vista.
