Portrait Sessions
It rained in the morning and did not look encouraging for any elective outdoor activities involving a baby, but by the middle of the day everything had turned bright and breezy. Mabel Watson Payne and I took a walk up to Huntington Park again and watched a preschool class digging in the sand. When they left we climbed up onto this platform and went down the low and gentle slide a few times. By the time we got back home it was nap time, and I occupied that leisure by asking some of the small people and creatures who live in the apartment to pose for portraits.
They were all willing enough to have their pictures taken, but their manner in front of the camera was stiff. Nothing like the spontaneity and charm of the one and only resident baby (seen below eating sweet potatoes after waking up from her nap).
