Today's flower is this remarkable hybrid canna, bright orange spots on golden yellow petals. I saw it growing in a tub on the sidewalk outside an apartment building while I was walking toward the nearby apartment building of Mabel Watson Payne.
I found her absorbed in the study of her books.
There is a small collection of books with texture effects on the pages (fur, sandpaper, bricks, etc) and those are the ones this baby will lately want to spend time examining on her own.
Below, she consults the unabridged dictionary with her grandmother -- simultaneously holding two helium balloons that have served well as beloved toys for several days now.
