Mabel Watson Payne is climbing the stairs from the lobby in her building up to her own floor. She loves to climb stairs.
And she loves unpacking my backpack. She has done this so often that I am sure she recognizes most of my everyday possessions as her old friends.
I visited her and her father this afternoon. We decided it was too hot to go outside. Playing on the rug in the relatively cool living room we had just as much fun as at the playground, I believe.
At the end of the afternoon, after adventures and activities too numerous to list, Mabel Watson Payne was ready glad to sit still while her father put on her pink leather shoes as we prepared to go outside and greet the evening.
