Today was the last time I could see Mabel Watson Payne before she leaves town with her parents on Sunday. She did her social duty quite bravely even though feeling poorly – the aftereffects of four vaccination shots yesterday, plus a blood draw. The poor little thing had band aids stuck all over her.
But we still had fun putting a toy whale to bed and messing around with Play-Doh. This picture (taken in the window just as a rain shower ended and the afternoon light reasserted itself) will make a good talisman to sustain me through the upcoming Thanksgiving absence.
That thick black band around the small tender wrist is my watch, which this baby has taken to wearing while I am visiting, but then always nicely returning to me when I leave.
