Italian neorealist photographer Nino Migliori was born in 1926 and is still producing fresh work at age 85 in his native Bologna. The black-and-white compositions seen here (other than the self-portrait above) were created during the crucial 1950s when Italian aesthetics enjoyed their most durable and useful period of the entire difficult century that only recently somehow managed to get itself finished off.
Also in the 1950s Migliori persuaded Peggy Guggenheim (below) to pose for him inside the Venetian palazzo she had converted to a small but choice modern art museum. Like Visconti's, his range extended from the world of urban peasants and the unemployed to the world of contemporary aristocrats.
