It was afternoon snack time at the playground. Mabel Watson Payne carried a cracker over to me, held it up to my mouth and said, "Eat this!"
"That was a complete sentence!" I exclaimed.
After our leisurely and peripatetic snack we played on everything, no piece of equipment left unenjoyed.
The little purple snack box ultimately got reassigned as a sand scoop.
Mabel Watson Payne decided (below) to tuck the lid of the little purple box into the front pocket of her overalls. This was not an easy task for her to set herself, she had to struggle with it, but she persisted until she got the wished-for result.
There was one last joggle on the teeter totter with daddy as the light faded.
