A corner of the table on its way to being set for dinner at the home of Mabel Watson Payne, where we shared a Friday evening treat of take-out from Sweet Woodruff. Mabel and I went out together on foot to pick up the food (actually I was on foot and Mabel was in my arms, since it was the end of a long play-day and she was a little tired). This was my first opportunity to see her new pink poncho with maroon bobble-tassles. It was recently & affectionately passed down from a close friend, an older girl and examplar of small-child style. Alas, I have no picture of that poncho yet – and must strive to get one soon.
