Red Fire Station
Mabel and I worked for a long time on this fire station. There were twenty different versions of it, but I seldom was fast enough to photograph one idea of what it should look like before Mabel would be dismantling and rebuilding. On the flat green base we laid down a layer of mud in two shades of brown plastic bricks. Then we built a multi-colored fire station with an aisle down the middle that cars could drive through – but tore that down pretty-much immediately in favor of an all-red fire station with every possible glimpse of brown mud covered up. That accomplished, we had to take it apart AGAIN so the windows would open. There is a red fire hydrant inside the red fire station, but it is a little hard to see.
Another equally worthwhile diversion involved chopsticks. It also involved wearing my shoes.
