Watercolors in the Royal Collection plentifully document the ever-shifting arrangements of palace interiors during the early nineteenth century. The famous Raphael cartoons (now in the Victoria and Albert Museum) were arranged in Jane Austen days for the inspection of sufficiently genteel visitors in a special gallery at Hampton Court, as above.
