Luis Bustamente (above) largely banishes color from the rooms he is paid to glamorize. Visual rhythms emerge from symmetrical dispositions of artworks chosen, it seems, mainly for the cleanness and simplicity of their silhouettes.
Stephen Brady's approach (below) is almost equally unfriendly to color, but somewhat less reliant on symmetry. Instead of high contrast and sharp outline, he favors a manic profusion of costly textures.
Taken separately, each of these the two designers creates a self-sufficient world. Considered together, Brady can make Bustamente look cold, as Bustamente can make Brady look cluttered.
