Jack London's Wolf House burned in 1913 before it was ever inhabited. As a ruin it is now nearly a century old, concealed within a preserved chunk of primeval terrain north of Sonoma and protected as a California State Park.
The footpath above winds about a mile through forest before reaching the Wolf House ruin. My friend and I planned our visit for the end of the rainy season when the landscape is green. Northern California wildflowers are small and low, mixed in among the grasses.
An external staircases at Wolf House, the boulders softened by weather and by mosses and ferns.
