Potrero Hill

Cold bright sunlight in San Francisco after last night's rain. Wandered east to Potrero Hill, taking pictures here and there.

A lady idling on a street corner told me in a friendly voice that I had "a nosy look."

"Is that a bad thing?" I asked.

She shrugged.

Clicked up to full size this detail shows how the rough newspaper silhouette was densely (and even lyrically) overdrawn in marker & wash to create the ambiguous character confronting the street from the doorway of an empty building. Female or male? Threatening or benign?

Side wall of a large public building near 17th and Harrison where some sort of municipal services are dispensed. Here, the archaeology of signage is evidently respected. Artifacts are allowed to disintegrate in the weather at their own slow pace.

Crocheted spare-tire cover parked alongside Franklin Square Park. In my view the whole vehicle plus this embellishment ought immediately to be acquired at any price and displayed inside the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. Perhaps some influential curator is reading this, even now, and will agree.
