ALA
Registered at the DC Convention Center today for the American Library Association gathering, and ran into a former colleague who years ago decided to go to work for the Library of Congress. I was glad to hear the choice turned out to be a good one. Then attended some useful and relevant sessions, and had lunch with another former colleague, but in the afternoon lull took a cab down to the National Gallery, though I had time only to look at a few of the traditional European and American collections. It was enough time to get reacquainted with the building, though, and enjoy it for itself.
At bottom is a Monumental Urn (one of a pair) carved in marble by Claude Michel, called Clodion, in 1782.
