Mabel Watson Payne took the underground (and underwater) train for the first time today, riding to a visit with her two grandmothers in the East Bay. It was heavy, cloudy weather with rain imminent but never quite falling. The flowers in the garden looked particularly luminous in the the weird light but Mabel Watson Payne easily outglowed every flower. The trip home was faster, in her car seat. There is nothing novel about cars for Mabel Watson Payne. She has ridden in them often already.
