Farmers Market
This morning I meet Mabel Watson Payne and her parents in the San Francisco sunshine at the Ferry Building Farmers Market. Yesterday was her five-month birthday.
The place is packed with produce and people – entertainers, cooks, buyers, sellers, eaters.
In her morning freshness after a good night's sleep Mabel Watson Payne enjoys the hubbub every bit as much as her parents do. And this is true even inside the building where the happy frenzied crowds shop for goods and services even more ardently than they shopped for grapefruit and radishes outdoors.
