The lilacs acquired for Mabel's Easter (and seen fresh here) were lingering in the dark on the following Friday. Mabel herself was still asleep. The pleasant, heart-shaped lilac leaves had started to droop, of course, but the blossoms remained reasonably vivid. The top picture was taken very early, by no other light than the tiny lamp on the dining table. The bottom one I took during breakfast with Mabel after the sun came up.
