The
Royal Collection contains an enormous amount of furniture scattered throughout several palaces, and all the flat surfaces on top of all that furniture require royal-worthy ornaments. Luckily, the Royal Collection is well endowed with the right kind of ornaments. The pairs and singles pulled together here date mostly from the Jane Austen period
– end of the 18th and beginning of the 19th centuries. And they mostly reflect the taste of the Prince Regent, a Jane Austen fan himself, who finally came into his own as George IV in the 1820s.
