Vacant Lot
This tree lot sprang up overnight on the corner of Dolores and 15th Street. The San Francisco Planning Commission is considering a proposal by the land owner to put a condo complex here with underground parking. That way a dozen additional yuppie couples can be gratified with the purchase of new investment-residences for themselves and their BMWs in the Mission. Another open space will be filled all the way out to its borders (and three stories up into the air) with genteel, anonymous architecture.
For the moment instead there are strings of lights above fresh-cut trees displayed in rows. When I walked past the sun was setting and rain was falling and the cold air smelled like sap.
