Burying Eels
Mabel has had the same set of sand toys since she was a baby. The shovel and spade have handles in the shape of abbreviated frogs. Saturday morning at the playground Mabel decided the frog-handles were not frogs, but eels. She wove them through the air (below) as if they were swimming in water.
Mabel interrupted the air-swimming to take one of the eels apart and shake sand out of it. Then she put it back together.
Next she decided to bury the eels and the five-headed purple dragon and the pink shark and little rubber frog in the sand under an arch. Mabel called this space her cave and only emerged from it after she had buried all the animals.
