Walking home in the rain this afternoon I could not keep count of the San Francisco people carrying big wet bouquets of flowers through the streets. I did not see any women carrying bouquets, actually. All of the individuals who came to my notice were anxious-looking men, hoping to please. The lady above in the red raincoat was walking her dog in Duboce Park. She looked very efficient and well-protected and if she bought flowers at all I bet she bought them well ahead of the rain.
