Danh Vo's newest installation,
We The People, is currently on view at
Kunsthalle Fridericianum, Kassel after originating at
Galerie Chantal Crousel in Paris. This vast deconstruction of some sort of stage-set mock-up of the Statue of Liberty looks like a thorough success. Which is odd, because the concept seems kind of predictable. But the execution and disposition look suave enough to cancel out predictability.
And these pieces also remind me (in their honorably derivative spirit) of the pseudo-Roman acorns carved in California granite, seen this morning.
