Pink Flashlight
Every year Grandma gives Mabel the same five graduated cube-shaped Christmas boxes tied together in a stack with gold-braided cord. They are filled with different little fun things every year. This year there were post-it notes in the shape of the letter M.
Best of all, a pink child-size flashlight.
While the parents made dinner ready, Mabel decided to sit on a low stool inside the bedroom closet with her flashlight. Grandma sat with a Christmas book on a chair by the closet door. Mabel pointed the flashlight onto the pages and that way Grandma was able to read her the manger story.
