Circle of Agostino Carracci
Two Men Reading
Royal Collection

The Royal Collection preserves a large group of drawings from the end of the 16th century, all attributed to the Circle of Agostino Carracci without further identification. The busy, fashionable Carracci art academy in Bologna and the large Carracci workshop in Rome both required the participation of many assistants and apprentices. Several Carracci dependents later became well-known under their own names, but none of these particular drawings has been assigned to any individual artist.
