The delphinium that did such an outstanding job of enhancing the garden back in May (as documented here) has decided to perform a surprise encore, sending up fresh spikes of purple flowers in August. These can only be interpreted as a gesture of good will and welcome intended exclusively for Mabel Watson Payne.
