ORANGE French painter Portrait of a young woman 18th century Prado |
There is a particular folder called HOLDER where I store digital images of newly discovered or rediscovered works of art until the time arrives to exploit them here. Each individual painting becomes a thumbnail within a grid. Ranging across hundreds of these thumbnails at once on a widescreen monitor, the eye tends spontaneously to pick out color-sequences that push forward and suggest themselves. Usually I ignore these suggestions. They are not part of my purpose here. Today I decided to heed them.
