Community Garden
There is a large vacant lot at the corner of Dearborn and Bird, located in a funny little Mission District cul-de-sac where cars hardly ever find their way. Neighbors keep this plot voluntarily full of flowers, though I have no idea who actually owns it. Certainly not the City of San Francisco, because if the city owned it there would be rampant neglect instead of what one sees instead, i.e. loving care.
In the afternoon the sun was (for once) falling across the extravagant, overblown roses there. Revealing their extravagant shapes and colors by means of extravagant shadows. Plus the grape leaves on the vines that cover the formidable chain-link fence.
