Mabel Watson Payne is still sleepy in the picture above. Every morning when I arrive at 7:00 for another day of companionship with her, we enjoy a few minutes before Mamma needs to leave – and that is when we can discuss the coming day.
The pink and orange number was the centerpiece of this baby's first outfit of the day. Sad to say, it attracted some unfortunate spills rather early on.
By the afternoon when she decided to wrestle with my legs, she was wearing a polka dot smock, retaining the truck-and-car pants from earlier. Clearly visible in the picture immediately above are the bite marks left on the knee of my trousers.
Nap time was fast approaching. Play becomes slower and more inward when Mabel begins to be tired.
