Dambier

Georges Dambier (b. 1925) was shooting Paris fashion in the Paris streets for French magazines in that same rich post-war period when Richard Avedon and Irving Penn were shooting Paris fashion in the Paris streets for American magazines. Studying this selection of Dambier's work causes me to surmise that Avedon and Penn became about a thousand times more famous than Dambier for no distinctive virtue of their own – other than for being Americans in that rich (brief) post-war period when Americans ran everything.
