When I arrived in the neighborhood of Mabel Watson Payne on Friday
afternoon I discovered from a whispered phone conversation with her Daddy that she was
still napping. This gave me the chance to wander around her neighborhood taking pictures of the buildings and the light and the general atmosphere until I got another phone call a while later to say that she was waking up. Here again the wide-angle lens would have been useful, I think. As things stood, out of 65 pictures I got 2 that looked to me tolerable. But then on the other hand I will always be a sloppy technician no matter how much camera equipment I acquire and I suspect the ratio of (relative) success will always remain humorously low.
