I met Mabel Watson Payne and her parents early Saturday morning at the Powell Street BART station downtown in San Francisco so that we could ride together through the tube-tunnel underneath the deep waters of the bay and go to Grandma's house. The entire trip takes less than an hour, but nevertheless generates all the special stimulation of travel (from Mabel's point of view).
