Beccafumi II

Angels
c. 1520

Angels and portrait heads
c. 1520

The two images above reproduce the front and back of a single sheet at the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam. Domenico Beccafumi (1486-1551) elaborated two floating angels on the front side, using a heavy wash that bled through to the back, which is, in its turn, covered with saints and monsters and additional angels in fine pen-work. Other Beccafumi drawings are ranged below. These are gathered together here from collections at the Metropolitan Museum in New York, the Getty in Los Angeles, and the National Gallery of Art in Washington DC.
