Mabel had started a new banner before I arrived on Sunday afternoon. The recent birthday banner made such a deep impression on everyone who saw it that Mabel decided to make another one. At school they are getting ready to choose clubs and Mabel decided her new banner would be for Flower Club. She drew a very large oval and inside it made about half the thick black letters she needed for FLOWER CL:UB. The first job we did after I arrived was to finish the thick black lettering. Mabel did all the outlines herself and then directed me as to filling them in with thick pencil strokes. When it came to the chain of flowers, she made the first two as examples, which was helpful when it was my turn to make some flowers.
