after Agostino Carracci Dragons 16th century Morgan Library |
Eight dragons or partial dragons copied and recopied onto a sheet of paper from dragons appearing in paintings or frescoes by Agostino Carracci (1557-1602). His draughtsmanship was universally held up as a model in the later 16th century, when all these drawings were made.
