Gaspard Dughet (1615-1675) was born in Rome to a French father and Italian mother. He married the sister of the famous Nicholas Poussin, permanently exiled in Rome. The French painters in Rome made a specialty of landscapes. Dughet made a specialty of Poussin-style landscapes. Sometimes he called himself Gaspard Poussin.
