That bellies and drags in the wind
Into its narrow shed.

These works made part of the large collection shipped from Rome to Haarlem in the Netherlands in 1790, where they have remained ever since at Teylers Museum. Relatively few drawings by Salvator Rosa (1615-1673) are to be found outside Italy even today. This beautiful group was probably acquired in Rome  and credibly from the artist himself  by the expatriate Queen Christina of Sweden (1626-1689) during the second half of the seventeenth century.
