I know it is not extravagantly unusual for spider plants to put out an occasional blossom, but I don't personally see this happening very often. The spider plant on top of one of the living room bookshelves in the home of Mabel Watson Payne is considerably older than she is and has enjoyed many years of semi-tender care, yet I have never seen it bloom before. So the appearance of this flower on a long pale stem must (at the least) be a sign of overall satisfaction with its lot in life.
