Mabel already had her painting shirt on and the paints on the table when I arrived Sunday afternoon. Our first subject was a heavy steel bolt, one that Mabel had discovered and found attractive when we went to the park last weekend. Mabel told me to draw it in pencil. Then she painted on the color that she felt was right for the bolt.
Mabel chose knickknacks off the shelves and told me to draw each one in pencil. Then I would be encouraged to help with picking colors and applying paints.
