Agostino

Agostino Carracci
Study for Colossus of Rhodes
Royal Collection

Drawings by Agostino Carracci (1557-1602) of Bologna. Of all the Carracci, Agostino is most often distinguished by art historians for the easy virtuosity and confidence of his drawing. There are many examples in the Royal Collection at Windsor. King Charles I acquired the earliest in the 17th century. Later, under George III, entire albums of Carracci drawings were obtained for the Crown in Italy.
