Annibale

Annibale Carracci
Artist painting at easel
16th century
Morgan Library

Annibale Carracci (1560-1609) drew an artist painting at an easel, seen from the side. Annibale worked throughout his not-very-long life with his painter-brother Agostino and his painter-cousin Lodovico. Together they ran ambitious workshops in Bologna and Rome. Annibale's Triton (below) is at the Getty Museum. A similar Triton from the collection of drawings at the Metropolitan Museum appeared in an earlier post here.
