Birthday Coffee Cake
Coffee cake with candles on it appeared in the middle of Monday morning at Mabel Watson Payne's house, so the family could mark the birthday of her mother, combining this observation with the annual Valentine making. Mabel's Grandma brought the coffee cake and Mabel ate a whole slice of her own with one of the semi-grown-up metal forks that Santa put into her Christmas stocking this year. My daughter was, it's true, the one who had the birthday earlier in the month, but I promised not to take her picture on Monday morning because she is enduring an un-beautifying head-cold. So instead am reviving the picture below of mother and daughter beauties taken in March of 2012 (less than a year ago, but before Mabel was two).
