Stefano della Bella Three Children carrying a Tray ca. 1636 etching Metropolitan Museum of Art |
This will be (for now) the final sequence of etchings by prolific and inventive Florentine draftsman Stefano della Bella (1610-1664). His work is so fruitful in fancy and rich in information and so abundantly preserved (though not, oddly, very well known) that an entire month of posts could not exhaust his potential. In the fullness of time (if we are spared) there will need to be more here from this artist.
