"Giuseppe Maria Mitelli (1634-1718) - Etcher, painter and sculptor.  Son of Agostino Mitelli (1609-1660).  Studied with several prominent Bolognese painters; however, he is reknowned for his extensive oeuvre of prints of popular subjects and games, illustrating ceremonies, pageants, warfare, folklore, trades and religious paintings, etc.  His prints are an important cultural source on contemporary Bolognese life.  He was among the founders of the Accademia Clementia in Bologna in 1710, and one of its earliest directors."
