"The early career of the Florentine painter Giovanni Martinelli remains relatively unknown.  He had moved to Florence from Arezzo by 1621 and is known to have become a member of the Accademia del Disegno there by 1635.  Most immediately influencing his style were contemporaries Santi di Tito, Bernardo Poccetti, and Cesare Dandini."
