Sculptural Acts
Hatje-Cantz has produced an attractive and interesting catalogue of the Haus der Kunst exhibition in Munich called Skulpturales Handeln. The back cover text somewhat cryptically explains that this group show (on view until February 26) belongs to artists "... who distinguish themselves through their process-oriented approach and deal with formal composition in an explorative way ..."
Three sculptors stood out for me.
Phyllida Barlow –
Vincent Fecteau–
Michael Beutler –
Part of the special pleasure these works give – at least to me – is the vigor they gain from their humble materials.
