"Andrea Camassei was a pupil of Domenichino, and in 1628 he assisted Andrea Sacchi in the decoration of the Villa Sacchetti al Castelfusano. In the 1630s he was employed by the Barberini family on several projects in Rome: for Don Taddeo he painted the Lamentation (1631) over one of the altars of the church of S. Maria della Concezione, and for Pope Urban VIII the ceiling decorations Apollo and the Muses (1632), now destroyed, and God the Father Dividing the Angel Hierarchies (1632) in Palazzo Barberini. At one time he was considered as a candidate to paint the ceiling of the 'gran salone' of the family palace, a commission eventually given to Pietro da Cortona. After Urban VIII's death in 1644, Camassei had difficulty finding work, and in 1646-47 once more assisted Sacchi, this time painting the Triumph of Constantine and the Battle of the Milvian Bridge in the Lateran Baptistery, the decoration of which Sacchi had in his charge. Camassei's work like Sacchi's is strongly classical in flavor and reflects the neo-Venetian style made popular in Rome by the French painter Nicolas Poussin in the second half of the 1620s."
