"Elisabetta Sirani – Painter and etcher.  Daughter of Giovanni Andrea Sirani, who was Guido Reni's principal assistant.  Mentored by Carlo Malvasia, who became her biographer.  Was painting professionally by the age of 17.  The majority of her commissions were for private patrons, ranging from small scale devotional paintings to large scale religious and historical works for aristocratic patrons, including Grand Duke Cosimo III de' Medici.  Died age 27."
